It all started in 1980 when 4 members of a family decided to set up
their own textile company which was named as Sartex Quilts & Textiles. By gaining experience of the market Sartex diversified into producing fashion bed linen and quilts for the retail market and built an enviable reputation within the textile industry for the quality of its products and efficiency of its service.
By 1984, Sartex had grown and developed at such a rapid rate, that further investment was made in the equipment to manufacture household quilts, bed linen etc. This rapid expansion has led the staff number to increase as
well, providing the locals with job opportunities.
In 1990 an office in Pakistan was opened by the name of Gohar International. This led to a sister company of Sartex to be opened in Pakistan in 1993 for duvet, sheet sets and flat products.
Sartex
have invested a great deal of time and money in implementing a carefully planned marketing campaign with potential export markets, using a combination of contacts made within the industry, knowledge and expertise and the use of trade exhibitions and other opportunities to promote Sartex products. This was achieved through our Germany based office, which was opened in 1993. Due to increasing demand of the products, the company had to open another quilting unit in Pakistan in 1995, and in 1998 an ultra-modern weaving unit consisting of 100
Sulzer looms was opened as well.
More than 80% of Sartex's business is gained from the export market, although big catalogue companies such as Great Universal regularly place orders with the company. In fact, Sartex acts as a direct supplier of many textile lines found in catalogues, taking orders direct from the mail order customer and
dispatching on behalf of the client. The rest of the business comes from Europe, namely Ireland, Germany, Holland and Sweden.
In 1999 Sartex Quilts & Textiles acquired another larger site, now having approx 180,000 sq ft in UK (with 100+ employees) and over just over 300,000 sq ft in Pakistan (with 500 employees) for production and storage.
With plans to take on extra staff to cope with
demands, and the sales chart rising through the roof, the company
established so modestly back in 1980 has made a considerable impact on the local economy, and promises to grow. |
